Chrome Barrage Sling — the cargo net, carried across the chest

The Barrage backpack earned its reputation with one detail: an exterior cargo net that takes whatever does not fit inside — a jacket, a helmet, a loaf of bread on the way home. The Barrage Sling keeps that net and scales everything else down, in two sizes: a 5-litre sling for the things you carry every day, and an ultra-compact 2-litre for when you only want your phone, keys and wallet close.

Both are built to move with you, on the bike, on a board or on foot. The main compartment opens on a single PU-coated zip, a hidden pocket at the back keeps your phone and wallet flat against your body, and the front cargo net takes anything you need to grab quickly.

Two sizes, two ways to carry

Barrage Sling 5L is a crossbody sling with a lightly padded strap, closed by Chrome's swappable mini Seatbelt Buckle, and a removable stabiliser strap to keep it in place on the bike.

Barrage Sling 2L is lighter and lower in profile. Its adjustable T-Lok strap system lets you wear it crossbody or around the waist.

Weather resistance

The shell is Polyspun X, Chrome's blend of recycled nylon and polyester finished with a polyester taffeta, over a recycled nylon lining. It is PFAS-free and weather resistant. The main zip is PU-coated to keep rain out on the ride. This is not a waterproof bag: there is no welded construction and no roll-top, so treat it as protection from a shower, not a downpour.

Frequently asked questions

2L or 5L: which size should I choose?
The 2 L carries a phone, wallet, keys and a pair of earbuds, and can be worn around the waist. The 5 L adds room for sunglasses, a small power bank and a compact rain layer in the net, and comes with Chrome's swappable buckle and a stabiliser strap for riding.

How does it compare to the Micro Kadet?
The Barrage Sling has a front cargo net and a hidden rear pocket. The Micro Kadet carries a padded U-lock holder instead. Choose the Barrage for quick external storage; choose the Micro Kadet if you ride with a lock.

Is it waterproof?
No. It is weather resistant: the fabric repels water and the PU-coated zip keeps showers out. There are no welded seams and no roll-top, so for sustained heavy rain look at the Chrome Barrage backpack.

Can I wear the 2L around my waist?
Yes. The T-Lok strap system of the 2 L adjusts from crossbody to waist carry. The 5 L is designed to be worn crossbody.

Can it be repaired?
