Chrome Kadet Max — bigger than a sling, smaller than a messenger

The Kadet Max sits in the space between two classics. It has the easy crossbody carry of a sling, swinging round to the front whenever you need something, and the capacity of a messenger, with room for a 15-inch laptop, a lunch and a layer. For many riders it is the one bag that covers the whole working day.

It keeps everything that made the Kadet a courier favourite: the iconic seatbelt buckle, now swappable so you can make it your own, a stabiliser strap that keeps the bag in place on the bike, and a shoulder strap that switches for left or right carry.

Weather resistance

The shell combines 1050D nylon and 1680D ballistic nylon with a PU backing, over a 150D recycled polyester liner, all PFAS-free. It is weather resistant, built to handle an ordinary rainy commute. If you ride in heavy rain every day, the Kadet Max WP offers the same shape in a fully waterproof welded construction.

Frequently asked questions

Kadet, Kadet Max or Mini Kadet?
The Mini Kadet (5 L) carries a phone, wallet and keys. The Kadet (9 L) adds a tablet and a layer. The Kadet Max (15 L) is the only one that takes a 15-inch laptop, making it the right choice for work.

Will my laptop fit?
The padded sleeve measures 22.9 × 40.6 cm and fits most 15-inch laptops, and even a laptop with a tablet alongside it. If in doubt, bring your laptop to L'Hirondelle Bike Shop in Meppel and try it in the bag.

Is the Kadet Max waterproof?
No, it is weather resistant: it handles a normal rainy commute well, but it is not sealed. For full waterproofing, choose the Kadet Max WP, which has welded construction.

Can I change the buckle?
Yes. The Kadet Max uses Chrome's 5 cm LG buckle system, so the standard buckle can be swapped for any compatible Chrome buckle, sold separately.

Can it be repaired?
Chrome guarantees the Kadet Max for life against material and workmanship defects, and our team can advise on any repair from wear and tear.
